How to set an auto-increment field?

Hi Guys,

We would like to have an Item Count column on our list. I understand that the value should be populated first on a form field so that it will be stored on a column when we hit save. Can you help us how can we achieve this using Forms Designer?

Thank You,

    Hello Arnel,

I do not exactly understand which value you wish to store in this field. Is it the number of items added before the current one? So, what if some items have been deleted? Should Item Count of other items be recalculated in this case?

    Thank you

In Microsoft SharePoint 2007, you can add the "Add date as prefix to attachments" feature to your lists and libraries. This feature enables you to add a date prefix to the file name of all attachments in your lists and libraries.

    1) The MS SQL Server uses the IDENTITY keyword to perform an auto-increment feature. In the example above, the starting value for IDENTITY is 1, and it will increment by 1 for each new record.

    2) To add a new AUTO_INCREMENT integer column named c : ALTER TABLE t2 ADD c INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, ADD PRIMARY KEY (c); We indexed c (as a PRIMARY KEY ) because AUTO_INCREMENT columns must be indexed, and we declare c as NOT NULL because primary key columns cannot be NULL.

An auto-increment field is a special kind of field that automatically increases whenever you insert data in it. I prefer to check this PureWL that learn more new things for apps.
