Upgrade from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013
Posted by avion7 - Jul 11 ’13 at 12:08
Hello everyone
I would like to know how spforms designer saves changes that are maid to form through the designer. Will there be any problems during the upgrade to a new version of SharePoint (2013). What happens if there is no Spforms installed (or it won't be). Does the upgrade fail or it is normaly upgraded but without forms.
How about migration? What is the simplest way to migrate changes that are maid from one environment (development) to another(test, production)?
Best regards

Hello,
Thank you for your question.
First about migration forms from one farm to another of the same version of SharePoint (test, production). You can achieve this on multiple levels:
1. You can export and import individual forms with Forms Designer.
2. Backup and restore site collectionAs for migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013, I recommend you to remove Forms Designer solution from your SharePoint 2010 farm, perform upgrade, install Forms Designer for SharePoint 2013 on a new farm. Then you have to open each form in Forms Designer and resave it.

HI this is a similar situation we are facing when upgrading to 2013. Unfortunately we have 100's of forms spreadover 1000's of teamsites. Is there no automatic way to export from 2010 and then import into 2013? Worse case identify the forms in the old 2010 site and ask the users to manually do this or use some 3rd party migration tool such as ShareGate to achieve this. We have a weekend to switch over as per usual and this process will take a long time if done manually.
Thanks
Chris
